Published 5 June 2020 The wreck of a pre-First World War German battleship, SMS Grosser Kurfürst, which sank off the Kent coast in 1878 and a Folkestone memorial which pays tribute to the 284 men who lost their lives, have been granted protection by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport on the advice of Historic England.
